Eldie Murchison
ISSA Certified Personal Trainer

About Me

My name is Eldie and I want to give you a little background and personal information regarding myself.

I am 34 years old and live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, I have a wife and a dog and I was lucky enough to get my father and grandfathers work ethic.

I worked as a Correctional Officer for just over 12 years. I was offered a job to work with youth with traumatic pasts that had to be removed from their homes for various reasons. I love what I do for a living and I love having positive impacts on young people who have every reason to not trust people, but due to being genuine and day after day showing them that they are my number 1 priority I have been incredibly fortunate to have built and continue to build very strong personal relationships and friendship with the youth I work with. After being lucky enough to have the career I currently have I quickly realized how much I truly enjoy seeing people thrive when put in the right environment and this turned me to becoming a Personal Trainer. I wanted to use my knowledge to help people.

Helping people has always been very exciting for me but I would be lying if I said my adaptive special needs coaching credentials are not one of my favourite things to have knowledge in. Through this I expanded my credits becoming an adaptive special needs life coach, kickboxing instructor, group instructor, and kettlebell instructor.Through this course I have learned the safest and most fun approaches to work with people who may be diagnosed with many things including Autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy, stroke victims and people who may need a wheelchair & be non ambulatory.  I want to provide a safe, educational, private environment for people who may be diagnosed with personal or cognitive "disabilities" who may not be comfortable going to a commercial gym, and also show them that regardless of their life situation they are not "disabled". They may need accommodations or extra assistance at times but don't we all at some point?

I have to give credit where credit is due. I was inspired to work with special needs clients after following a personal trainer and life coach by the name of Javeno Mclean who is based out of England. He does amazing work and inspired me to do the same.

My background within sports and physical fitness.

I boxed for 10 years starting at an early age with the Albion boxing club in Trenton, Nova Scotia. With them I won the sports person of the year and was fortunate enough to compete at the Canada Games.

I played high level rugby for 17 years, in chronological order of the teams I have played with would be North Nova Education Centre, Picton County mens rugby, Team Nova Scotia U18, and the PEI Mudmen when I lived there for a short time.

I competed in 1 bodybuilding show in 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta named the Muscle Beach Classic.

I then turned to competitive powerlifting. Within 8 months of training I broke 3 Canadian National Records under the Canadian Powerlifting Federation. I did this at the powerlifting nationals in 2016. I was able to break 2 deadlift records and 1 total records under the push/pull division.

Following a few minor injuries I turned my focus to jiu jitsu which I have been doing since 2017.

As much as I love being able to work with special needs clients I honestly love working with any client. Younger, elderly, big, small, competitive athlete to soccer mom. I will help you surpass what you believe you are capable of,

If there are any other questions, I am an open book. Feel free to reach out.
